Alsace encourages the soft mobility so dear to Father Christmas, pioneer of the genre with his reindeer-drawn sleigh. It’s easy to get to the region by TGV from Paris, Lyon or Bordeaux, and then wander around the Rhine plain as you please on the TER regional express trains.
From Colmar station, shuttle buses take you to eight of Alsace’s finest Christmas markets (Ribeauvillé, Kaysersberg, Neuf-Brisach, etc.).
Got no choice but to take the car? No problem. Alsace’s main towns have set up park-and-ride facilities, so you can walk, take the tram or bus to the heart of their markets.
